Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 1 month ago
    • I just got a press release saying the Library of Congress will be CLOSED during the week of our conference. This is a shame for any attendees who wanted to visit LC. however, there will be a grand re-opening on Sat, April 12 if you'll still be in town then.

from the press release:

"The Great Hall, exhibitions and Sales Shop in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress will be closed from Thursday, April 3 through Friday, April 11 in preparation for the opening of a new Library of Congress Experience for visitors. Ceremonies to celebrate the debut of the new Library of Congress Experience will begin at 11 a.m. on April 12. The Great Hall and exhibitions will reopen after the noon ribbon cutting.

From April 3 – 11, all public tours are cancelled. Previously scheduled and reserved tour groups have also been cancelled; however, on April 10 and 11, the Visitor Services Office will run reserved and constituent tours on its normal schedule. Previously scheduled public programs will continue as planned with access through the Southeast doors for daytime events and through the Carriage Entrance for evening concerts in the Coolidge Auditorium."

the full press release is at http://www.loc.gov/today/pr/2008/08-A02.html
