   Jefferson County (Colorado) Public Library is seeking an excellent leader as its Executive Director.

DUTIES:

The Executive Director performs administrative and professional library work in planning, organizing, and directing the County library program. Working with our Senior Management Team the Director is responsible for:

  • Planning, prioritizing, organizing and directing all phases of the County library program, including the libraries, bookmobile and outreach services
  • Developing and executing strategies and programs to sustain a positive image and relations between Library representatives and County residents
  • Managing the policy-making agenda with the Library Board of Trustees
  • Developing public information policies and ensuring their implementation.
  • Reviewing and approving staffing and staff issues including supervising all professional, paraprofessional and clerical work, ensuring adherence to established laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Conducting staff conferences and meetings and providing guidance to professional and supervisory personnel in the development of new programs and activities.
  • Directing building operations, planning and management and development; and overseeing book and library materials development plans and activities.
  • Developing and presenting an annual budget and monitoring all assigned line items to ensure budget discipline is maintained.
  • Directing library technical support elements.
The Executive Director reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a master's degree in Library Science and at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading a multi-location system, with a minimum of six years at the administrative level.

SALARY: Starting at $120,000.00 annually, depending on experience

WEB/DIGITAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN

 

POSITION:  Salisbury University's Blackwell Library seeks a creative, energetic, service-oriented Web/Digital Services Librarian to plan, manage, develop and support all library web applications, serve as the technical manager for the library’s web site, partner with campus and system IT to order and support library hardware and software, and support digital initiatives across library units.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Plan and deliver web-based library services, including creation and administration of dynamically driven web content, online forms, and user interfaces; collaborate with library staff to assure web site quality and accessibility; lead assigned digital and technical projects within various library units; provide technical expertise in the selection, development and implementation of new information technologies and their library applications; manage and maintain the library’s computing and networking environment; specify and maintain library hardware and software; troubleshoot minor problems and refer others to appropriate campus units; manage and install various library specific software packages; and other professional duties as assigned. The individual functioning in this capacity is expected to contribute to the University’s values of and commitment to student centeredness, academic excellence, and diversity. This position reports to the Head of Public Services.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  M.L.S, M.L.I.S. or M.I.S. from an accredited library program; knowledge of web design principles, including familiarity with web accessibility and usability norms and guidelines; demonstrated experience using web development applications; ability to anticipate web trends, investigate their applications in academic libraries, and develop new web-based services; experience with a variety of scripting and programming languages; knowledge of relational databases using MS Access and/or SQL server and their use in the creation of dynamic web pages; knowledge of hardware and software issues; strong analytical and problem solving skills; good listening  and oral and written communication skills; ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines; aptitude for detail-oriented work; positive attitude, sense of humor, commitment to team work, and a willingness to embrace change.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  Academic or research library experience is highly desirable; experience conducting usability studies and other user interface design testing; knowledge of integrated library systems, preferably Aleph; experience with SFX and MetaLib; knowledge of instructional design and experience with course management systems, preferably Blackboard; knowledge of proxy server authentication; expertise in digitization and use of metadata standards; knowledge of digital practices, standards, projects and services.

 

APPOINTMENT, RANK AND SALARY:  This is a library faculty position on a permanent status track with excellent benefits and salary commensurate with experience. Appointment will be contingent upon verification of eligibility to work in the U.S. Start date of July 2008 is preferred but negotiable.
